About Jamie Leigh Wells, M.D. 

Dr. Jamie Wells is currently a pediatrician in private practice in New York City. She completed her pediatrics residency at St.Vincent’s Hospital-Manhattan where she won the John Z. Jacoby Memorial Prize for demonstrating the most exemplary care of patients with Cystic Fibrosis. Dr. Wells continues to be involved with St. Vincent’s by helping with fundraising for friends and families with CF and volunteering for their CF Center. She also volunteers by teaching struggling, expectant moms about newborn care.

 

Prior to joining St.Vincent’s Hospital, Dr. Wells was a resident in neurological surgery at State University of New York-Downstate Health Science Center where she focused on surgery of the brain, spine, and peripheral nerve. Dr. Wells received High Honors for her neurosurgery clerkship at Columbia University and High Honors for her neurosurgery clerkship at the University of Pennsylvania. Her publications include: “So, you want to be a brain surgeon?” Women in Neurosurgery Journal, Fall 2001. Dr. Wells received an M.D. from Jefferson Medical College where she was inducted as a junior to the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society and elected president.  She earned her B.A. with Honors from Yale University.
