FDA Extends Availability of Pancreatic Enzyme Therapy Pancrease Until Mid-July

06/09/2010

The CF Foundation has learned that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration will allow wholesalers to distribute the pancreatic enzyme product Pancrease® MT to pharmacies until July 12, 2010. At that time, an updated formula called PancreazeTM will become available and will replace Pancrease.

Several days ago, it appeared that Pancrease would be in short supply pending arrival of the new product. The FDA decision means patients should find ample supply of the product available in pharmacies.

Pancreaze is manufactured by McNeil Pediatrics, Division of Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
