Team Boomer is a program that: encourages people with cystic fibrosis to incorporate exercise into their everyday lives; provides an avenue for individual athletes in a variety of sports to raise money for cystic fibrosis; and offers assistance to grassroots athletic events looking for a cause to support.

Batter Up for Charity Softball Tournament 2011

Team Boomer is one of the beneficiaries of "Batter Up for Charity," a late October softball tournament in New Jersey.

The one-day tournament, held Oct. 22 at Rahway River Park in Rahway, N.J., will be a 7/3 format (7 men, 3 women). The entry fee is $350 per team, which includes umpire fees and lunch vouchers.

In addition to supporting Team Boomer, the tournament will benefit CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Union County, which recruits and trains volunteers to advocate on behalf of children in out-of-home placement.

When:  Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011 - 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
