Congratulations to the 2012 Recipients of the Scholarship of the Arts

The Boomer Esiason Foundation Scholarship of the Arts is annually awarded to a CF artist whose work promotes communication through creativity. Artwork in the form of video, painting, sketching, and sculpture is considered.

Anna Jonson of Wilson, North Carolina is currently a graduate student at Appalachian State University where she is studying Music Therapy. She plans to become a music therapist because she feels that, because of having CF, she is in the unique position to personally relate to those people who have special needs.

Abby Lewis of Portland, Oregon is attending Santa Clara University and majoring in Psychology. She sees each day as an opportunity to make a difference and to show others that nothing, including CF, will hold her back. Abby hopes to one day help children who have CF realize that the disease does not need to hold them back from achieving their dreams.

David Isaaks is a 4.0 high school graduate who is playing D1 soccer at the University of Rhode Island while majoring in engineering. In spite of his busy schedule, Isaaks always makes time for his treatments, especially when traveling for soccer. His dream is to be the first major league soccer athlete who has cystic fibrosis but is also pursuing a career in electrical or architectural engineering.
