Cegedim Relationship Management, a technology information services company delivering innovation to help transform commercial and compliance operations in U.S. healthcare, today announced that its 2013 Life Sciences Forum: Charity and Customer Collaboration Event will raise funds with their event partner, the Boomer Esiason Foundation (BEF), for the fight against cystic fibrosis. Founded by former NFL quarterback, Boomer Esiason, the event’s keynote speaker, BEF is a Navigator-ranked, four-star charity that employs a multi-lateral, compassionate approach to combating cystic fibrosis, and aligns with Cegedim’s core initiative to promote social responsibility.
Cystic Fibrosis affects approximately 70,000 people worldwide. It causes life-threatening lung infections, breathing difficulties, and an inhibition of the body to properly absorb nutrients. A cure has yet to be found, and the disease takes the lives of most of its victims prior to the age of 40. In addition to dealing with the tragic personal challenges associated with the disease, families of cystic fibrosis patients must also deal with financial challenges — as insurance companies only cover a portion of the overwhelming cost of care, leaving families with high out-of-pocket obligations.
