Boomer Esiason - NFL Video

Like most  Americans, Boomer Esiason will never forget September 11, 2001. But for Boomer, the pain of that tragic day was deeply personal. In addition to losing the Boomer Esiason Foundation’s offices — the Foundation was housed in the North Tower of the World Trade Center — Boomer lost good friend Timothy O’Brien.

Timmy, a member of the BEF Board of Directors, and several hundred of his colleagues at Cantor Fitzgerald died in the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center. In a new interview for the NFL, Boomer recalls the events of that day and discusses the role football played in helping a grieving country begin to heal.

Boomer’s interview may be viewed on NFL.com.

In a recent video series, Newsday.com remembered some of the Long Island victims of 9/11. In a video feature on Timmy O’Brien, his father remembered him as a great athlete and the child all of his other children aspired to emulate.
